Amorim Cork has joined forces with Niepoort to launch the Proudly Crafted in Portugal campaign, which aims to promote the excellence and authenticity of products created and developed in Portugal, contributing to the prestige of the Portugal brand. The initiative combines the valuable legacy and know-how of traditional sustainable techniques with innovative technology, two fundamental pillars of Portugal's positioning.
In this project, which values artisanal production - Proudly Crafted in Portugal - the two companies promote the union of emblematic national products with high added value, namely Niepoort's Coche wine, the brand's most exclusive white wine, where the Rabigato, Viosinho and Códega do Larinho grape varieties predominate, with Amorim Cork's top-of-the-range natural cork stopper, NDtech®, with Bee W® bio-based coating treatment, which combines two extraordinary natural products: beeswax and cork in a pioneering and innovative solution that improves the consistency of the wine's flavours and aromas, bottle after bottle, in high-quality wines for ageing, such as Coche 2023.
Through a series of films based on the sensory experience conveyed by each wine and its association with its closure, Niepoort tells a story that enhances the added value of authentic national products.
In the episode The Lean Machine, which introduces the Coche wine and Amorim Cork's cork stopper, the craftsmanship and precision in the production of natural cork stoppers is highlighted, where every detail is meticulously crafted. Just like in a racing car, every element, from the wine to the cork, is fine-tuned to perfection, combining time, nature and expertise in a product with great added value, the Coche 2023.
Proudly Crafted in Portugal not only highlights the quality of the products involved, but also underlines the importance of tradition and innovation in wine and cork production, contributing, through this association, to promoting the value of the national brand and a position of excellence in the highly competitive global market.
"We are extremely proud to be associated with Niepoort in this campaign that highlights the relationship between an iconic wine – Coche 2023 – and Amorim Cork's natural cork stopper, underlining the oenological decision responsible for this wine's final journey in its ultimate tribute to evolution.
It's all about the true meaning of simple things: time, tradition, persistence, nature, knowledge and authenticity.
This is what we believe in and this is the motto that drives us forward, generation after generation, towards excellence!" says Luis Botelho, Amorim Cork's commercial manager for the domestic market.
Daniel Niepoort, head of oenology at Niepoort, adds: "Tradition cannot be rushed. It takes time, patience and respect for nature. For this campaign, we have paired three top wines with three Portuguese cork stoppers. Because from the vineyard to the moment the bottle is sealed, everything counts in the final experience.
In the case of Coche 2023, an iconic white wine from the Douro, it is a tribute to craftsmanship, to the manual dedication that begins in the vineyard and culminates when the cork seals the bottle. The sound of bees, the wind blowing through the vines, the cork... all this is part of the identity of this wine.
We want these films to be more than just stories. We want them to be experiences that take those who see them to the heart of our philosophy: respect for the terroir, for time and for the small details that make great wines."
The Coche white wine, with a production of only 4,700 bottles, is the expression of the region and the old vines from which it comes, planted in mica schist soils at an altitude of over 600 metres. A wine characterised by its balance between acidity and volume, with its ageing potential enhanced by Amorim Cork's NDtech® natural cork with Bee W® coating.
