Amorim Cork and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) have taken a new step towards sustainability by implementing a structured cork stopper collection and recycling programme as part of one of the world’s most prestigious international wine competitions.

For the first time, the cork stoppers used during the jury tastings are being collected and integrated into a complete recovery and recycling process, ensuring their transformation and reuse in new applications, in line with circular economy principles.

During the 2026 edition, held over three days, more than 15,000 cork stoppers were collected and will now be processed by Amorim and reused across various sectors, from fashion and construction to high-performance industries, taking advantage of the unique properties of this natural raw material.

This initiative reflects the long-standing partnership between Amorim Cork and the CMB, which began in 2006, and reinforces their shared commitment to developing solutions that promote a more efficient and sustainable use of cork throughout its life cycle.

By implementing a model that values cork from its origin through to its reuse, the project demonstrates the potential of this renewable material in practice and reaffirms Amorim Cork’s role in promoting sustainable practices within the wine sector.
